The Investment Objective of Paradigm MIC
The investment objective of Paradigm MIC is to acquire and maintain a diversified portfolio of first and second mortgages providing shareholders with sustainable income and a competitive rate of return on investment while preserving capital and liquidity.
Paradigm MIC aims to provide:
Security. While there are risks to any investment, unlike a mutual fund, stock, debenture, or exchange traded fund that provides no security, PMIC mortgages are secured by real property in the Provinces of BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. They are short-term in nature (typically 12-24 months), which acts as a hedge against interest rate risk and real estate market conditions.
Growth. While the preservation of investor capital is Paradigm’s primary focus, our business of secured mortgage lending generates interest income secured by real property. With the exception of fiscal year 2014, which required Paradigm to allocate all net revenue against portfolio adjustments and deliver zero dividend, a dividend has been paid every year since the inception of our company in 1994. We distribute income annually and the option of receiving your distribution in the form of shares enables a compounding of return.
A Level of Liquidity. Typically, the level of liquidity we offer is one of our most unique features. Paradigm is committed to make at least 10% of the total share capital available each year for redemption on a quarterly basis. This offers the ability to access your capital should you need to, provided not more than 10% redemption is requested annually. While investment funds need to be advanced as mortgages to generate the return, mortgages are constantly maturing and creating liquid capital, enabling Paradigm to create a level of continuous liquidity for our investors.
